Project Accelerate
Project Accelerate partners with corporations and social impact organizations to support young women from high school through college and into their careers, aiming to reduce the gender gap in leadership roles. By providing resources and mentorship, the program empowers participants to become leaders and drive cultural change within their workplaces.
A note from Johanna - College and Career Coordinator
At Girls Inc., we know how much potential our young women hold and how important it is to surround them with the tools, resources, and relationships they need to thrive. That’s why we launched Project Accelerate, a program designed to support young women ages 18–24 as they transition from high school to college and onward to meaningful careers.
Project Accelerate is more than a program; it’s a bridge. Each participant is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides real-world guidance, encouragement, and connections to professional networks. These relationships open doors to opportunities that help young women see themselves as leaders in fields where they’ve historically been underrepresented.
Alongside mentorship, Girls Inc. staff lead monthly workshops on topics like college applications, financial literacy, leadership development, and career readiness. With this combination of one-on-one support and group programming, participants gain both the confidence and practical skills needed to stay on track, graduate on time, and secure jobs and internships that set them up for long-term success.
The outcomes we’re striving toward are bold and transformative: higher college graduation rates, expanded professional networks for women from marginalized communities, and career placement in leadership-track positions. When young women step into their power, they not only change their own futures but also strengthen families, organizations, and entire communities.
